True Devotion
"Dear Philothea, true and living Devotion presupposes not a love of God, but the true love of God. It is not, however, love as such. Insofar as divine love enriches us, it is called Grace, which makes us pleasing to God. Insofar as it gives us the strength to do good, it is called Charity. When it grows to such a degree of Perfection17 that it enables us to not only do good but also moves us to do it carefully, frequently, and promptly, it is called Devotion."
St. Francis de Sales, Introduction to the Devout Life, Part I, Chapter 1.
